240 calling to 239

My mobile phone was ringing.

I moved away the papers on my desk to find my phone.

I answered it, with a little displeasure as I was having a tough time at office.

“Hello, who is it?”

“Hey, it is 240/04 calling 239/04” said the voice at the other end.

Flabbergasted & was struggling to comprehend.

Though in few seconds I made sense of these numbers. 239 was my college roll no and 240- Ginn’s.

I was delighted to hear to him after a long time.

He was in Hissar site. And before he was send to Arunachal, for our Hydro project.

And now he had come down to Noida( our corporate office) to put down his papers.

With utmost curiosity I asked him “saala you got some other job or what”??

He retorted “yes, BHEL”. My joy knew no bounds now. I solemnly congratulated him.

He informed me, he would complete his formalities of resigning by evening and would meet me thereafter.

I said “definitely”. Would call Ankit & Apoorv also.

He agreed and kept the call. It’s been almost 3 years that I have seen him.

He not only had my adjacent role number but also was my neighbor at hostel 5B in BIT mesra.

We had some wonderful time there.

For sometime I forgot all things around me as all good memories of college days rushed through my mind.

REALITY:
He did not accept the money and I submitted a blank sheet , with only my name written (also I failed to observe some concentric RINGS on the lame apparatus....)

The "lambu- Bengali- Thrashed me", Jairath sir saved me with viva. I have enormous repect for him, so I can’t pen down indecent proposition about him (if at all any) or about his beautiful daughter. So putting it decently, PJ his daughter had high calorific value and was highly combustible.

Canteen, most happening place during Bitostav . We were 2k4.. malayali guys ..were mostly seen together...

Everything looked as if it just happened yesterday.

Not digressing coming back..to Ginn.

Now, it’s great to know that he is out of Reliance & more importantly got into BHEL.

His life is settled and I thought now he should get married.

In the evening, he complied to my thought. Infact he was eager to get married.

We had a long talk, he told all about his experience in Reliance (mostly sad), but like the same Ginn i knew he laughed at all those sad incidents. He told me how he had stumbled upon BHEL exam and got through. I found tremendous happiness in his success.

And as I bid adieu to him, I said” hey 240/04 take care and 239/04 wishes you all the very best”.
