A Mission Impossible

In the last few months I have seen my friends choosing different career paths. Some opted to do their higher education in US, Singapore & Australia. While some targeting GMAT and CAT examination to pursue their MBA dream.

To be sincere I envy people who have made a clear decision in their life. They have taken that turn and moved ahead. And here I'm still standing on that crossroad.

But, I hope things are becoming a little bit more clear. I feel any profession other than civil services will make me unhappy. Again, its an inner feeling.

So, here I am on a mission which requires an indomitable will to succeed. It is about not to give up. It is also about befriending failure and analyzing it for reaping benefits.

A mission never undertook. An uphill task, but its time to prove my mettle.

How does a Bank work?

Was flirting with an idea of starting a Bank, and decided I should document my thoughts.

It is quite interesting to note that its confidence of people that runs the bank. People park their money in the bank. They do this through savings/ current account, fixed deposits likewise.

Bank keeps this money and lends out a share of this to the public. They charge interest on this.


The profit made by the bank = Interest charged on the loan – Interest given away to account holders.

So where does Confidence parameter come into picture??

Primarily, It is the confidence of the people that drives them to put their money in a particular bank.

Secondly, It is the confidence of the people ( that their money is secure )that propels the bank as its this money( the bank) lend out as various loans.

The end of the day its confidence of people that matters.

Brand building is of paramount importance. For eg SBI is a bank that has good brand value and has confidence of majority.

SBI also has the largest customer base. It has a high ratio of current and saving account. This enable it to make more profit. As they make more profit they keep their lending rate a bit lower than the other banks and hence is prospering.

This kind of banking is called commercial banking.

There is an another genre of banking called Investment banking. Well they deal in millions and corporates. Their activities are different. They deal in raising money from the capital market for the corporates. Apart from this, they do multitude of activities like M&A,consulting etc.

Its so obvious that Investing banking is more profitable. At the same time, the amount of risk associated with it proportional to the profit earned.

So, paraphrasing my whole thought process, if you have knowledge and skill to manage an investment bank , there is no better way to make some real good money. However, its risky. Commercial banking is safer option but then profit is less.

Hehe.... what a way to timepass. Only few days to go.

Resignation Letter

Today my resignation letter was accepted. And finally by 16th august I bid adieu to Reliance. Three years have been a roller-coaster ride in the purest sense of the word. Experienced extremes of happiness and sadness.


A new phase in my life have started. A decision taken mostly because I hated the job. However, it is quite normal for people to loathe the work.The problem with me is that I just cant take it, I get frustrated. And in that suffocated state I make life miserable for me and everyone around. So, I made this decision to quit the job.

I'm driven by intuition and an obvious amount of risk is always associated with it. But then whats life without a thrill.

I like to do this often now, not because I have found some smooth writing in me, but it is the best way to share my thoughts, frustrations, tensions, anger, happiness, stubbornness and a spectrum of other emotions that blossom & flow out through the orifice of my mind.

Yes, I feel that there is someone out there reading this.

An invisible friend who does not care about the grammar, glamour or the crap I write.

Thank you my friend- that you take in all with a grin and affection that only and only you have for me.

13.07.2011- Nondescript thoughts

Life is all about choices- Sometimes you have many and sometimes your have none.

Either ways life is not so favourable.

Had a memorable date with HR once again, though, it is kind of a mundane activity nowadays.

My transfer to Mumbai is stuck forever. There is no need of people in Mumbai office. Tellingly, its over crowded there and who have already got transferred are starving for job.

Well, last year, this time no one expected so many projects of reliance to halt all of a sudden & majority to go jobless on job.

But one needs to expect the unexpected.

I need to stop it.However, its a good way to vent out the frustration,but, it is killing me.IT OPIATES ME.

Final thoughts.

Some good sense still prevails.Realized the need of the hour. It is not to get carried away but to control your emotions & excitements and to do well in your exams.

Yes, this is my first attempt at this coveted exam. Though, highly ill-prepared.

But the un-said aim of this attempt is coming to terms with reality, I have been flirting with the Idea of giving UPSC exam for a long time now.Last year SSB clashed with this exam and I had to make one of the thoughest choice of my life.

And, went for the SSB interview.

I reckon I have not been that serious with studies akin to the preparation of guys in Mukherjee Nagar/ Delhi(UPSC preparation HUB). May be this exam will bring me back to earth.

Clearing this is no-joke.

Its been a problem sustaining the intensity with my studies. I have always given up under immense irritation.

Anyways this prelims exam would be a litmus test and will ascertain if this my cup of tea.

If it is, then it is just a matter of time that I join the services. No, it is not over-confidence or it is not about undermining the rivals, it is just an optimist outlook.

Between I came to know from Akhilesh that few more our batch mates have made it to the IIM A. Congrats guys.

Akhilesh also said that no more people are getting transferred to Mumbai.

Well, I think I was the last guy to get transferred.

It’s quite sad to know that Reliance have put on hold 3 projects. That, essentially means we have an excessive manpower.

Scenario is scary. Reliance has indeed spoiled careers of many.

A company with no realistic structure and so un-organised.

Cribbing about one’s own company is not good and is against my personal mottoes. So that is the full-stop.

Don’t think I won’t be able to blog back home, SO this becomes my last blog for some time.

And Congress has messed up with the “Baba Ramdev's Fast”.

Kapil Sibal has acted like a naïve KID who has a Harvard degree(with no practical use). Your Double-dealing act was cheap Sir.

Well, your NO-LOSS Theory on 2G scam still shocks me even in my sleep.

Excited to see Hari, Thadiyan and Ramkumar.

So a long good bye.

And checked my ticket status for the last time, it still ranked '1' on the waiting list.Heheee..

I love my kerala.

And then finally off to kerala tomorrow.

Got a waiting list (1) tatkal ticket. Hope it gets confirmed on the final chart.

Everything has a first time, please god don’t make me bribe the TTE.

Meanwhile thank you vivek .He had taken all pains to book my ticket on a Sunday morning, tolerating the irritating old-aged sluggish railway website and sacrificing a pleasant morning sleep.

It is going to be a long vacation and would re-live those monsoon memories.

Damn! It never rains in Delhi. Life is so suffocating here.

Hope to see Thadiyan. He is going to US. Yet another guy lured by the West. .

And hari has planned a get-together kind of at Marine Drive.Its going to be memorable.

Even tedy would join making it a session of senseless deliberations and vayinokkals.

Forgot to tell you this would be first attempt on Civil Service exam. Well, that happens to be the primary reason of this visit.

Need to come to office before 8 in the morning tomorrow. That would be a shock for the guards who regularly see me cruising in to punch at 9:45- just in time or late.

In the history of this company I guess anyone would have walked pass the entry gate so early. New record would be set tomorrow.

Out of the blue a mail warning has popped up on the screen.

Its been so long something like this happened. Hope It’s the HR mail.

Grrrr… checked the mail.

Its not worthy to explain the mail.

How did Kyazoonga get my official mail ID???... I am not going to waste my valuable time pondering over this.

I remember I had booked WC tickets with this ID.

Now they are sending me all Spam mails.

This mail says Salman Khan is ready with Asin. To do what???- It is unclear on that. Some kind of marketing Stunt I guess.They want to create curiosity among readers and I am not going to fall for this.

Reckon it is about some up-coming movie. Lost zeal for movies so there goes the mail into thrash.

Meanwhile. Asin is inflammable. Good that nowadays they use digitalized tape.

Destiny

Not giving the EXAM because IRCTC refused me tickets.

I had logged in but while searching for trains I got logged off automatically.

And then it refused me entry. It says my password is wrong.

How is it possible I just logged in you b****h.

Sad. Last year it was a SSB interview.

This year it is IRCTC. I am not destined to write this exam.

Bad day.

YAAAAAAWN. Feel sleepy.

It is nothing like sleeping on the office desk.
